At the end of June, our FieldCore Renewables team established a new record installing Cypress wind turbine in only 18:45 hours, reducing the installation time by ~35%. The installation was conducted with the highest safety and quality standards and under perfect weather condition. This was possible thanks to world-class performing team of highly skilled FieldCore wind technicians, as well as excellent planning of works and great team collaboration between the customer, GE Renewable, FieldCore and the crane company.
“Utilizing our Lean methodology to drive elimination of waste has helped us drive this 35% improvement, and this is only the start, FieldCore and GE Renewable together have identified more projects where through the use of Kaizen’s at sites we can realize even more productivity.” – said Renee Bajorath, Wind International Installations Director, FieldCore Renewables.
Having this done in one workday, respecting all working time restrictions is an outstanding milestone and a great evidence of continuous improvement from both FieldCore and GE, starting with Lean and Kaizen, improved training up to detailed installation preparation and documentation. Achieving this role model approach is yet another step for the company for an average installation time reduction for future projects.
“This is a great day when we start to realize what can be achieved through the use of Lean. I am particularly excited about the fact that throughout our Kaizen activities we are not only identifying faster ways to do things, we are identifying and implementing safer ways of doing installation activities to eliminate risk to our technicians.” – said John Chatwin, General Manager, FieldCore Renewables.
The record was established at the largest onshore GE’s wind farm located approximately 470km north of Stockholm, Sweden, the 175 MW wind farm will generate enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of 175,000 homes in Sweden and will play a significant role supporting the country’s target to become fossil fuel-free by 2040.
Congratulations to the entire team for this amazing achievement! Special thanks to Przemyslaw Wisniewski our Site Lead and the two Pad Leads Marcin Żywicki and Adam Janik who manage and guide the FieldCore team at site.
