FieldCore Europe is now on its journey to implement a Live Outage for our field teams to use at gas sites. Recently, I travelled to the Blénod-lès-Pont-à-Mousson site, owned by our customer EDF, near Nancy in France, to implement Live Outage and prepare the site team for a live outage. Special thanks to the service manager Thierry André, the contract performance manager Loic Savina, the outage managers Alain Michel & Ramzi Oueini and the Field Engineers Mohamed Zeryouh & Florian Boucachard for making this happen.

During the site visit with my colleagues Lotfi AmokraneAlan Carruth, and Rayan Joudieh, we started the setup of the Live Outage kit and showed the crew how to prepare the non-capital parts leveraging the new “drawers” specifically designed for kitting.

Those moveable drawers save a lot of time for the team during reassembly phase and prevent using the wrong part number as visual management has been applied. We also installed our LTE/4G domes, as well as 300 feet of ethernet cables from outside to inside the gas turbine hall, and found a good place to store the router near an energy source. We used the scaffolding to install the different Wi-Fi access points on each side of the gas turbine required to start testing the internet and start up the Live Outage kit.

The FieldCore and customer teams, and other contractors, were really interested in the digital details of the kit. We explained the concept and how the team would use it in the next days while starting the outage. After just few minutes of using it, great feedback came from the team and were directly shared with the global team.

Our value stream team, Alan Carruth and Rayan Joudieh, stayed on site longer to support and teach Live Outage, new productivity tools and other lean and visual management concepts to the team.

It was a great week spent on site; we received all the support to setup the Live Outage kit correctly and everyone, including the customer, was very supportive and could feel that the team was motivated to use it. Despite my French nationality, it was the 1st time that I visited a French Power Plant.
