FieldCore will soon begin work on a multi-year project for GE Renewables, upgrading a 1,000 MW Hydro Power Plant in South America. The project includes retrofitting and modernizing six generator units, increasing power and efficiency and restoring them to like-new condition. The improvements will increase power output and extend plant operations for an additional 35 years. FieldCore is leading outage planning, EHS procedures, resource management, sourcing and quality.

This is a major win for FieldCore according to Stephen Lanthier, Service Line Director-Renewables. “GE’s best-in-class technology combined with FieldCore’s field service solutions offered the plant owner, the best possible technical solution with a market competitive price.”

“For FieldCore, it is the first time we will perform ongoing services in a Hydro power plant, a chance to leverage new technology and to use all of our collective field services experience to deliver world class execution.” – Adriano Silva, Service Manager.

FieldCore expects to begin its first outage later this year with consecutive outages running for the next two-three years. On average, each outage will last about three months and require approximately 40 people per turbine. Although the site is in a remote location in Brazil, FieldCore will utilize local craft resources for much of the work which will help to simplify mobilization requirements.
